The 18th Asian Film Awards press conference announced the nominees, and the Jury President as Director Sammo HUNG. Director HUNG attended the event in person, alongside Hong Kong Youth Ambassador LO Chun Yip, to mark the beginning of this prestigious celebration.

MAR | IN CONVERSATION

 

This “In Conversation” event focuses on four themes: Supporting Actor, Production Design, Original Music, and New Director. Four sessions will feature twelve nominees from the 18th Asian Film Awards, who will share their insights on acting and creative processes, allowing the audience to gain a deeper understanding of the various aspects of filmmaking.

The “Asian Cinerama – 18th Asian Film Awards Selected Films” took place successfully from March 14 to 16. This event featured eight nominated films and two special screenings, inviting over twenty filmmakers to participate in post-screening discussions. Nearly every screening reached full capacity, and the audience response was highly enthusiastic.

The legendary figure in the field of film sound, TU Duu-Chih, hosted his first masterclass in Hong Kong, reflecting on his sound design experiences in several classic films, including clips from The Great Buddha+, Stranger Eyes, and Old Fox. He demonstrated to the audience how sound can add emotional depth to films. This event attracted numerous film enthusiasts and professionals, providing them with a rare learning opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the art behind sound design.

As the 18th Asian Film Awards approach, Ambassador Dean FUJIOKA joined four young ambassadors—Aokbab Chutimon, Austin LIN, LO Chun Yip, and OKADA Masaki—on the evening of March 15 at a shopping mall event to promote the upcoming awards ceremony. They interacted closely with fans, playing games and generating enthusiastic responses from the audience. Additionally, last year’s AFA Rising Star Award winner, Win Metawin, made a surprise appearance, raising the excitement of the event to new heights.

The 18th Asian Film Awards concluded successfully at the West Kowloon Cultural District Xiqu Centre, presenting a total of sixteen awards and six special prizes. This year’s entries showcased a diverse range of talent, with various awards going to films from different Asian regions. All We Imagine as Light won Best Film, while YOSHIDA Daihachi took home the Best Director award for Teki Cometh. Sean LAU and Shahana GOSWAMI were honored as Best Actor and Best Actress, respectively, for their performances in Papa and Santosh, perfectly capping off this year’s event.

This year “Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation” kicked off in Dubai, with the opening ceremony held on March 22 at Cinema Akil. The seven-day film screening event attracted numerous film enthusiasts. Oliver Chan, Thomas Lee, Sheena Chan, and Patrick Suen interacted with the audience, experiencing enthusiastic support from fans from various regions. 

APR | HONG KONG FILM GALA PRESENTATION 

 

The “Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation” returns to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, featuring six selected Hong Kong films for screening, along with the “City of Cinema” exhibition. This event invites Cambodian audiences to immerse themselves in the captivating world of Hong Kong cinema through visual and spatial experiences. Director Riley Yip, actors Adam Pak, Max Cheung, Lam Yiu Sing, and composer Wan Pin Chu are also present to engage with local audiences.
