The Asian Film Awards Academy proudly announces that a short film from IFC 2024 — A South Facing Window, directed by Lkhagvadulam Purev-Ochir from Mongolia — has been selected for the Concorso Corti d’Autore at the prestigious Locarno Film Festival!

Founded in 1946, the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland is one of the world’s most respected festivals, renowned for spotlighting bold and independent cinema. The Concorso Corti d’Autore, part of the Pardi di Domani section, features short works by established filmmakers and celebrates innovation and experimentation. Since its inception, the festival has emphasized accessibility for all, focusing on quality, integrity, and independence, championing films that enrich culture, art, and society. This commitment has earned the attention and respect of both the international film community and the industry, making its film selections a guarantee of excellence.

A South Facing Window delves into the complexities of family life amidst the bustling streets of Ulaanbaatar. The film follows a young couple grappling with their strained relationship, fiercely arguing over their daughter, jobs, and lingering affairs. As they navigate the echoing emptiness of shiny, new apartments, they confront their dreams of stability and a brighter future, all while feeling the relentless pressure of their past mistakes and the harsh realities of the present. In this chaotic urban landscape, they search for hope amidst the uncertainty.
