Following a fruitful trip to Italy in April, the Asian Film Awards Academy is hosting the Student Visit at the Tokyo International Film Festival this autumn – apply now before the deadline on 15 August 2025 at 6:00 PM.

Presented by the Asian Film Awards Academy, co-organised by the Tokyo International Film Festival, and supported by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong SAR (CCIDAHK) and the Film Development Fund, the Student Visit to the Tokyo International Film Festival will take place from 27 October to 5 November 2025. Participants will have the opportunity to experience one of Asia’s largest film festivals up close — attending world premieres, competition screenings, post-screening talks, masterclasses, and exclusive industry events, including TIFFCOM and the MPA Seminar. It is a rare chance to connect with international film professionals and witness the dynamics of the Asian film scene.

Students who joined previous editions have shared how these journeys broadened their horizons: “Attending a major international film festival gave us a deeper understanding of the industry beyond filmmaking, including areas like programming, marketing, distribution, and transnational promotion. It’s shown us new career possibilities.”
Others reflected: “We discovered how audience preferences vary across cities and regions, and the strategic considerations behind co-productions. These are the kinds of insights you rarely find in textbooks or on social media.”
Some past participants have even gone on to pursue successful careers in the film and media industries.
