LIAO Ching-sung
Liao Ching-sung is a renowned film editor, veteran producer and screenwriter in the film industry. Graduating from the first edition of film technician training programme of Central Pictures Corporation in 1973, he joined the company’s production studio in the following year as a film editor. In 1978, his first editing work “He Never Gives Up” was nominated for the Golden Horse Awards. Since the 1980s, he collaborated closely with outstanding filmmakers such as Edward Yang, Hou Hsiao-hsien, and Wan Jen, creating acclaimed masterpieces like “The Sandwich Man”, “Terrorizers”, “Dust in the Wind” and “A City of Sadness”, earning him the title of “Nurturer of Taiwan New Cinema“. With over 40 years of experience in editing, he has edited over a hundred films. In recent years, he actively works on cultivating the next generation and passing on his practical experience. In 2018, he was honoured with the “Special Contribution Award” at the Golden Horse Awards.
