Mathew Tang began his career in 1989 at TVB and RTHK, writing scripts and working in drama production. He later entered the film industry as a screenwriter and served as First Assistant Director to leading directors such as LI Chi Ngai, Jackie CHAN, TSUI Hark, Peter CHAN, and Mabel CHEUNG. His credits include Crime Story, Time and Tide, Fuyajo, Comrades: Almost a Love Story, The Soong Sisters, Who’s the Woman, Who’s the Man?. 

In 2005, he wrote, directed, and edited his first independent feature, b420. 

Over the years, he has held various roles—including screenwriter, editor, director, and producer—on over 40 local and international films. He also served as Vice President at Celestial Pictures and Head of Productions at Edko Films. In 2012, he founded Movie Addict Production Limited, together with an artist management division, and co-produced the Tales from the Occult trilogy (Tales from the Dark, Tales from the Unusual, Tales from the Occult) with Edko Films and Emperor Motion Pictures, all adapted from the works of renowned novelist Lilian Lee.
