Presented by the Asian Film Awards Academy and in collaboration with Cinema Akil, the Asian Cinerama: Hong Kong Film Festival embarked on its grand journey in Dubai on 10 November. As the festival commenced, Hong Kong rising actress Ng Wing Sze visited Dubai, joining the audience for post-screening Q&A of the opening film, Mad Fate. She expressed her excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to promote Hong Kong films in Dubai. When queried about her preparation for the role, Ng Wing Sze revealed that director Soi always encouraged her to delve deeper into the character’s psyche and thus gain a profound understanding of the character’s personality, experiences, and circumstances.
On Sunday evening, Ng Wing Sze met the audience before the screening of Back Home. She emphasized the film’s distinctive Hong Kong elements, such as housing estates, Chinese opera, and traditional paper dolls, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in its rich cultural tapestry. Having experienced in playing a variety of roles, Ng Wing Sze expressed her fervent desire to take on action films like “Mission Impossible.”
During the 7-day Asian film tour, there were Hong Kong residents in Dubai joining the local audience in showing unwavering support for the event and expressing great satisfaction with the return of Hong Kong cinema to Dubai.

The programme is financially supported by Create Hong Kong, Film Development Fund, and supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Dubai.

 

Asian Film Awards Academy

In 2013, three main Asian film festivals – Busan, Hong Kong and Tokyo – joined together to create the non-profit organization, the Asian Film Awards Academy (AFAA) to promote and develop Asian cinema and its talents. AFAA highlights, strengthens and develops Asian film industry and culture through the annual Asian Film Awards, and with financial support from Create Hong Kong and Film Development Fund of the Hong Kong SAR Government, several year-round initiatives for building regional and international audiences such as the Masterclass Series, Journey to the Fest, Asian Cinerama, Young Film Professionals Overseas Training Program and Film Craft Workshops.

 

Create Hong Kong

Create Hong Kong is a dedicated office set up under the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on 1 June 2009 to lead, champion and drive the development of the creative economy in Hong Kong. It co-ordinates Government policy and effort regarding creative industries, focuses Government resources for the promotion and speeding up of the development of creative industries in Hong Kong, and works closely with the trade to boost the development of creative industries.

 

Film Development Fund

The Film Development Fund was first set up by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 1999 to fund projects and activities which contribute towards the development of the Hong Kong film industry, including part-financing small-to-medium budget film productions; enhancing efforts to promote Hong Kong films in the Mainland and overseas; enhancing initiatives to train talents in various aspects of film production and distribution; and enhancing the interest and appreciation of Hong Kong films by the local audience.

자카르타 Six Hong Kong films were shown in Indonesia. Showcase the rich and vibrant creativity of contemporary movies produced out of Hong Kong.
홍콩 아시안 시네라마의 개막작과 폐막작 인 "호쿠사이"와 "웨이팅 포 마이 컵 오브티" 모두 홍콩에서 최초 상영되었 다.
바르샤바 제 15회 아시아 영화제의 최우수 작 품상을 받은 "스파이의 아내"는 바르 샤바에서 최초 상영되었고 구로사와 기요시 감독도 온라인 세션에 참여하 였다.
토론토 아시안 시네라마가 토론토에서는 처 음으로 열렸고 현지 관객들에게는 다 양한 아시아 영화 스타일을 접하는 기회가 되었다.
하와이 하와이에서 천명이상의 관객들이 아 시안 시네라마를 통해 다양한 아시아 영화를 감상하였다.
홍콩 럭롱만의 "매염방"이 개막작으로 상영 되었는데 극장이 가득차있는걸 볼 수 있었고 감동적이었다.
