Programs

The Asian Film Awards Academy was jointly founded by the Hong Kong, Busan, and Tokyo International Film Festivals. Each year, it organizes a diverse range of film programs in addition to the annual Asian Film Awards. AFAA also curates thematic initiatives spanning creative sharing, offering creative insights, curated screenings, and dialogue that bring audiences closer to the voices and visions shaping Asian cinema today.

The AFAA’s flagship program—the Masterclass Series—covers a wide scope, placing equal emphasis on academic theory and intellectual exchange. Through these lectures, audiences gain in-depth insights into Asia’s leading filmmakers. Asian Cinerama and Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation aim to promote outstanding Asian and Hong Kong films on the international stage.

The International Film Camp provides personalized mentorship for emerging filmmakers and offers funding to support the completion of thematic short films. Journey to the Fest enables students to visit major international film festivals, enhancing their understanding of the film industry while offering firsthand experience of festival operations and processes. Young Film Professional Program provides Hong Kong film practitioners with overseas training and short-term internship opportunities. Meanwhile, Film Craft Workshops invite experienced international film professionals to Hong Kong to share their production expertise and specialized knowledge, allowing participants to better understand industry practices and professional techniques.

In addition, AFAA collaborates with major film festivals to organize networking receptions, filmmaker dialogues, and thematic seminars. These initiatives strengthen connections among film professionals and contribute to the sustainable and dynamic growth of the Asian film industry.
