The Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation in Cambodia will offer an exceptional lineup of events, including thought-provoking film forums with renowned filmmakers. A highlight of the program will be a business forum for Asian buyers and distributors. This forum will provide a platform for exploring the evolving trends in Asian film acquisitions, addressing the challenges and opportunities in acquiring Asian film content, and offering insider perspectives on the state of Hong Kong film distribution in recent years.

 

Through this comprehensive program, attendees will have the opportunity to gain valuable insights, foster meaningful connections, and delve into the rich tapestry of Asian cinema, with a special focus on the distinctive voice of Hong Kong filmmakers. The guest speaker included Michael Chai (Westec Media Limited Cambodia), Kinnie Cheung (Entertaining Power Co. Ltd), Richard Juan (28 Squared Studios Philippines), Shures Ratnakrishnan (Suraya Filem Production and Distribution) and YK Tung (GSC Movies Malaysia).

 

The second forum will feature an impressive lineup of industry luminaries, including veteran producer John Chong, renowned for his work on the critically acclaimed Infernal Affairs trilogy; and Angus Chan, the presenter of the boundary-pushing work Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In, they will share their insights on crafting captivating narratives for commercial films and offer a unique perspective on producing visionary cinematic experiences.

The inaugural Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation, to be held in Phnom Penh for the first time, is set to captivate audiences with a spectacular lineup of cinematic treasures. Presented by the Asian Film Awards Academy, in collaboration with Westec Media Limited and financially supported by Hong Kong’s Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA), Film Development Fund and Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, the programme will showcase 7 specially selected Hong Kong films at Fable Cinema, Factory Phnom Penh from 3 to 7 July 2024!

 

As part of the programme, The Dynamic Cityscapes of Hong Kong Films Exhibition will be held concurrently at Factory Phnom Penh from 4 July until 4 August 2024, 10AM – 7PM daily. The admission is free and exhibition materials are in English and Khmer. The Dynamic Cityscapes of Hong Kong Films Exhibition is a celebration and demonstration of Hong Kong’s diverse cityscapes, recreating the most memorable scenes that appeared in the specially selected films, as well as iconic sights in Hong Kong.
