Presented by the Asian Film Awards Academy and in collaboration with Cinema Akil, the Asian Cinerama: Hong Kong Film Festival embarked on its grand journey in Dubai on 10 November. As the festival commenced, Hong Kong rising actress Ng Wing Sze visited Dubai, joining the audience for post-screening Q&A of the opening film, Mad Fate. She expressed her excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to promote Hong Kong films in Dubai. When queried about her preparation for the role, Ng Wing Sze revealed that director Soi always encouraged her to delve deeper into the character’s psyche and thus gain a profound understanding of the character’s personality, experiences, and circumstances.
On Sunday evening, Ng Wing Sze met the audience before the screening of Back Home. She emphasized the film’s distinctive Hong Kong elements, such as housing estates, Chinese opera, and traditional paper dolls, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in its rich cultural tapestry. Having experienced in playing a variety of roles, Ng Wing Sze expressed her fervent desire to take on action films like “Mission Impossible.”
During the 7-day Asian film tour, there were Hong Kong residents in Dubai joining the local audience in showing unwavering support for the event and expressing great satisfaction with the return of Hong Kong cinema to Dubai.

The programme is financially supported by Create Hong Kong, Film Development Fund, and supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Dubai.
