JAN | ASIAN FILM AWARDS

 

The 18th Asian Film Awards press conference announced the nominees, and the Jury President as Director Sammo HUNG. Director HUNG attended the event in person, alongside Hong Kong Youth Ambassador LO Chun Yip, to mark the beginning of this prestigious celebration.

 

MAR | IN CONVERSATION

 

This “In Conversation” event focuses on four themes: Supporting Actor, Production Design, Original Music, and New Director. Four sessions will feature twelve nominees from the 18th Asian Film Awards, who will share their insights on acting and creative processes, allowing the audience to gain a deeper understanding of the various aspects of filmmaking.

 

MAR | ASIAN CINERAMA

 

The “Asian Cinerama – 18th Asian Film Awards Selected Films” featured eight nominated films and two special screenings, inviting over twenty filmmakers to participate in post-screening discussions. Nearly every screening reached full capacity, and the audience response was highly enthusiastic.

 

MAR | MASTERCLASS

 

The legendary figure in the field of film sound, TU Duu-chih, hosted his first masterclass in Hong Kong, reflecting on his sound design experiences in several classic films, including clips from The Great Buddha+, Stranger Eyes, and Old Fox. He demonstrated to the audience how sound can add emotional depth to films.

As the 18th Asian Film Awards approach, Ambassador Dean FUJIOKA joined four young ambassadors—Aokbab Chutimon, Austin LIN, LO Chun Yip, and OKADA Masaki, with Win Metawin, winner of the 17th AFA Rising Star Award—on the evening of March 15 at a shopping mall event to promote the upcoming awards ceremony. 

 

MAR | ASIAN FILM AWARDS

 

The 18th Asian Film Awards at the West Kowloon Cultural District Xiqu Centre presented a total of sixteen awards and six special prizes. All We Imagine as Light won Best Film, while YOSHIDA Daihachi, Sean LAU and Shahana GOSWAMI were honored as the Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress respectively. 

 

MAR | HONG KONG FILM GALA PRESENTATION 

 

This year “Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation” kicked off in Dubai, with the opening ceremony held on March 22 at Cinema Akil. Throughout the seven-day film screening event, Oliver CHAN, Thomas LEE, Sheena CHAN, and Patrick SUEN interacted with the audience, experiencing enthusiastic support from fans from various regions.

 

APR | HONG KONG FILM GALA PRESENTATION

 

The “Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation” returns to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, featuring six selected Hong Kong films for screening, along with the “City of Cinema” exhibition. Director Riley YIP, actors Adam PAK, Max CHEUNG, LAM Yiu Sing, and composer Wan Pin CHU are also present to engage with local audiences. 

 

APR | JOURNEY TO THE FEST 

 

The Journey to the Fest programme led students to attend the 27th Far East Film Festival in Udine, Italy. Highlights include participating in the film opening ceremony, thematic lectures, pitching sessions, post-screening discussions, and “Hong Kong Night.” They also had face-to-face exchanges with filmmakers such as XU Lei, Sylvia CHANG, Tony LEUNG Ka-fai, and Lily FRANKY.

 

JUN | INTERNATIONAL FILM CAMP 2025 PRESS CONFERENCE

 

The “International Film Camp 2025” officially kicks off, with Chief Mentor John CHONG leading mentors CHAN Hing-kai, CHEN Da-ming, and Anthony CHEN, joined by advisors TANG Lai-ying and TANG Hon-keung. Guests include directors Stanley KWAN, Nick CHEUK, Tracy HSU, as well as actors Natalie HSU, LAM Yiu-sing, Rachel LEUNG Yung-ting, and LO Chun Yip.

 

SEP | HONG KONG FILM GALA PRESENTATION

 

The Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation was successfully held in Bangkok. Aside from post-screening talks, the “Actor Forum” facilitated exchanges between Hong Kong and Thai actors, with LO Chun Yip and Dylan SO. The Masterclass invited director Anthony PUN at Sripatum University to dissect film aesthetics, inspiring the next generation of filmmakers to pursue their dreams.

 

SEP | ASIAN CINERAMA

 

“Asian Cinerama: Growing Light” screened eight Asian films, featuring directors SEO You-min, Yoshiyuki OKUYAMA, and Ayako YOKOHAMA, along with Thai actor Pae, to attend post-screening talks. The co-organized “The Asian Filmmakers in Focus Talk” with the HKBU Film Academy, bringing campus sessions to share Asian perspectives with students.

 

SEP | INTERNATIONAL FILM CAMP

 

The “International Film Camp 2025” was held at Sands China Resort in Macao, mentored eighteen young directors from across Asia with one-on-one guidance from Chief mentor John CHONG, mentors CHAN Hing-Ka, CHEN Da-ming, Anthony CHEN and Roger GARCIA, with masterclass speakers Mabel CHEUNG, Brillante MENDOZA, and Stanley KWAN. Eight selected projects will be funded to produce short films.

 

SEP | SPECIAL PROGRAMME: INDUSTRY EVENT

 

Co-hosted with the 30th Busan International Film Festival, a star-studded affair “Hong Kong Night” gathering over 600 filmmakers, media, and industry representatives from around the world. Guests include Sylvia CHANG, SHU Qi, CHANG Chen, Angelica LEE, Teo YOO, Yoshiyuki OKUYAMA, Tricia TUTTLE, and Justin MIN, uniting the power of Asian cinema.

 

SEP | HONG KONG FILM GALA PRESENTATION

 

The nine-day Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation – Kuala Lumpur took place at GSC Aurum Theatre, featuring six Hong Kong films. Aaron KWOK attended in person with Locker LAM, MJ CHAN, Robin LEE, Ken LAW, and James HUNG for exchanges that deepened cinematic ties between the two regions.

 

OCT | HONG KONG FILM GALA PRESENTATION

 

The Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation returns to Jakarta in collaboration with Jakarta Film Week, showcasing four featured films and four short films. Composer Day TAI took part in a masterclass, while art director Delon SIU and cinematographer Sam CHAN participated in the Talent Hub programme.

 

OCT | JOURNEY TO THE FEST

 

The Journey to the Fest programme led students to the 38th Tokyo International Film Festival. Highlights include the opening ceremony and red carpet, visits to Japan Institute of the Moving Image and the TOHO Studios, masterclasses, TIFFCOM Panel, “Hong Kong Night”, and face-to-face conversations with film professionals including NISHIKAWA Asako, MURATA Chieko, and DANZUKA Yuiga.

 

NOV | HONG KONG FILM GALA PRESENTATION

 

The Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation debuts in Vietnam. Sammo HUNG and Louis KOO to attended the opening ceremony and met Vietnamese audiences in person for the opening film Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In. Herbert LEUNG, director of Stuntman, also attended a special sharing session with Vietnamese director Trần Thanh Huy.

 

NOV | HONG KONG FILM GALA PRESENTATION

 

In its 5th edition in Dubai, the Hong Kong Film Gala Presentation screened seven Hong Kong films. Filmmakers in attendance include ANSONBEAN — lead actor for Good Game, CHAN Tai Lee — director of Fight For Tomorrow, and CHOW Man Yu — director of Behind the Shadows.
